Home Learning

Home Learning plays an important role in supporting your child's education. We believe it helps enrich their potential, and so, we are clear about our expectations.

We subscribe to TT Rockstars (KS2) and Numbots (KS1) and your child is expected to go on this weekly. The top three students from each key stage are celebrated in our Friday Gold Award Assembly. You child should have a log-in for this. If you are unsure about this, then please contact your child’s teacher via Class Dojo.

Children are also expected to learn their weekly spellings. We use a scheme called Sir Linkalot for this.

Throughout the school, the most important learning that your child can undertake is to read every day and establish a love of books that will stay with them forever. Being widely read is the base for all learning and so please encourage reading all of the time. Children are expected to read three times a week and this should be recorded in their reading record. If your child completes this, then they are entered into our weekly raffle to be in with a chance to win a prize from our reading book vending machine.

We take pride in any extra topic work and research which children complete at home. We regularly display this both in and out of classrooms as well as on our social media platforms.

We also realise that children are supported by their families to participate in wider learning at home such as clubs and societies, cooking, sports or charitable pursuits. We ask parents to inform school of the activities your child take part in so we can celebrate their achievements as a school. Please send these updates via Class Dojo.

We also believe strongly in a positive partnership between school and parents. We therefore run half-termly drop in sessions, where parents can learn how best to support their child. These can vary from 'online safety information' to 'supporting with phonics'.

If you have any concerns around Home Learning, please contact your child's Teacher in person or through the learning platforms and they will make time to answer your questions.

Together we will help every child reach their full potential.

Although online learning is no longer used on a regular basis, please find information below about how we approach remote learning in our school.

We aim to teach the same curriculum remotely as we do in school, wherever possible. However, we may have to make some adaptations to make this accessible at home as our curriculum is usually very hands-on and interactive and we are aware that physical resources we use in school are not available in all homes.

We recognise that some pupils may not have suitable online access at home. If you have trouble accessing devices or suitable broadband, please contact the school.

If you require your child's username or password, please contact your child's class teacher via Class Dojo or phone the school office on 01246 432701.
